Session Description: 

Books can be an essential tool in the playroom, especially with young children. This interactive training will explore fun ways to apply bibliotherapy and Adlerian Play Therapy principles with young children to address a variety of presenting problems. Participants will explore the “Crucial C’s” within Adlerian Play Therapy and how their application can help young children in and out of the playroom. Experiential play-based activities and resources will help attendees see the value, and fun, in integrating bibliotherapy with young children. 

Learning objectives: 

  1. Discuss the concept of bibliotherapy in Adlerian Play Therapy.
  2. Explain how to select books that are developmentally appropriate for play therapy with young children.
  3. Describe the Crucial Cs of Adlerian Play Therapy.
  4. Explore play-based methods of assessing the Crucial C’s in young children 
  5. Identify children’s books to implement in play therapy to foster the Crucial Cs.
  6. List play-based activities to support the process of Adlerian Play Therapy in young children
