Fostering Cultural Humility Non-Contact Webinar

Non-Contact Webinar Title: Fostering Cultural Humility in Play Therapy with Black & Latinx Children and Families

Facilitator: Dr. April Duncan, DSW, LCSW, RPT-S

Non-Contact Webinar Description:

The recent racial justice movement has further highlighted the need for play therapists’ to recognize the unique needs of Black & Latinx children. A core ethical component for a play therapist is to display cultural humility in their work with marginalized communities. But what exactly does that mean? This training will challenge the play therapist to evaluate the way they treat and view the behaviors of Black & Latinx children in and out of the playroom. Additionally, attendees will learn how to apply important cultural factors when gaining buy-in in the playroom. This includes play-based strategies to engage them in culturally-competent play therapy, including sand tray, art therapy and music therapy.
