Session Description: 

Although play therapy supervision does not carry the same legal obligations as clinical supervision, there are important ethical considerations that supervisors should prepare for such as vicarious liability, informed consent and dual relationships. This workshop will explore the important gate-keep responsibilities required for play therapy supervisors, including ways to navigate confidentiality and dual relationships. Case studies and discussion questions will help play therapy supervisors understand the importance of solid ethics that support both the guidelines of their professional license and the Association for Play Therapy. 

Learning objectives: 

1. List the key components of informed consent in play therapy supervision
2. Discuss ethical and legal considerations that should be addressed in play therapy supervision 
3. Assess ways to maintain confidentiality in play therapy supervision 
4. Identify key information to include in play therapy supervisory contracts
5. Analyze ways to assist supervisees in navigating ethical dilemmas in play therapy supervision
