LGBTQ+ children and adolescents may be dealing with the stress of exploring
their sexual orientation or gender identity, especially if they lack strong support systems. Therefore, it is imperative that play therapists create safe play environments when working with sexual minority youth. This webinar will explore the importance of building strong therapeutic relationships in the playroom with LGBTQ+ children and families, through the use of seminal
play theories to promote empowerment and self-esteem. Participants will also explore the careful introduction of caregivers into family play therapy to repair damaged relationships and
enhance the parent-child relationship.
