Session description:
Children of color are experiencing increased rates of race-based trauma amid the escalation of ICE presence in their communities. Play therapy offers a developmentally responsive approach to addressing the emotional and psychological impact of ICE-related stress, fear, and uncertainty. This webinar explores how the therapeutic powers of play can support healing from both real and perceived traumatic experiences associated with ICE presence. Attention will be given to engaging children whose opportunities for play have been restricted due to isolation and limited movement in response to ICE activity in their communities. Through a play-based lens, clinicians will gain practical tools to foster safety, resilience, and emotional expression while honoring the lived experiences of families impacted by ICE presence in their communities.Ā
