Session description:

Bullying is an epidemic that children across the country are experiencing in schools, in their communities, and online. This workshop will help school-based play therapists identify the goals and objectives to combat bullying following DESE Standards. Helpful toys and items in the playroom for students to express thoughts and feelings about being bullied, as well as being a bully to others, will be identified. Special time will be spent highlighting play-based techniques to support students of all ages, including ways to address the mental health effects of bullying within individual and group play therapy sessions.

Learning objectives: 

  1. Design measurable play therapy goals and objectives following DESE Standards to support students’ mental health affected by bullying. 
  2. Identify key items in the playroom for students for emotional expression related to bully victimization. 
  3. Demonstrate play therapy interventions to address the mental health effects of bullying within individual and group play therapy sessions.
