Description:

Group play therapy is a helpful way to support children and adolescents who are presenting with the same issue. Participants will learn the skills required to facilitate group play therapy sessions, as well as group play therapy interventions to address a variety of clinical issues. This workshop will explore the use of child-centered group play therapy with young children and cognitive behavioral play group play therapy for teens and tweens. Time will also be spent discussing different group play therapy activities to build rapport between group members.

  2. Identify play therapy skills to facilitate group play therapy sessions
  3. Discuss the foundations of child-centered group play therapy
  4. Apply cognitive behavioral play therapy to group play therapy 
  5. List play therapy interventions to build rapport between group members
  6. Describe the goals of group play therapy
