Session Description:

Navigating the systems, culture, and other factors within a school while also applying the Therapeutic Powers of Play is a clever puzzle for School-Based Play Therapists to perform. Now add to the mix of being a supervisor supporting this School-Based Play Therapist. This workshop will explore the requirements of the School-Based Registered Play Therapist (SB-RPT) and how supervisors can support these supervisees in the school environment. Participants will examine the unique ethical, developmental, and systemic factors that influence supervision for school-based play therapy supervisees while developing strategies to support clinical growth, case conceptualization, and play therapy interventions with children and adolescents. Emphasis will also be placed on culturally responsive play therapy supervision, the impact of vicarious trauma, and the role of professional self-awareness in fostering competent, reflective, and resilient school-based play therapists.
